Cornelia Marie Sails Into DC Classroom! |
Version 11 - view current page
Want to know why we've been so busy?
On Friday, May 2, Captain Phil Harris, Jake Harris, and Josh Harris of the F/V Cornelia Marie visited our classroom as a surprise for my students!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to Captain Phil, Jake, and Josh. Your kind spirits and generosity towards my students will have a positive impact on them for a lifetime. Your visit was truly wonderful and we hope that the memory of the event will come to your minds from time to time. If you ever need some greenhorns, you know where we'll be! :)
Thank you to Russ for helping make the visit possible. Thank you to Kicker for your wonderful classroom gift (ipod "Rockin'" Station) and for the cool t-shirts for all of the students. Thank you to Rob, the Crabbroker, for a great presentation that extended our classroom learning.
So many captains and crews from the boats have been wonderful to us. We have received countless emails with information and answers, contacts of support, phone calls, and packages from crews and fan groups. What can I say except that we are overwhelmed and overjoyed because so many people have taken an interest in our learning. My students will work on thank you tribute pages in the weeks to come. All of the captains, crews, vessel owners, and fans will not be forgotten.
Our local news station, KLAS Channel 8 and the local newspaper, covered the event yesterday. In addition, we filmed every minute (from multiple camera angles!) That video will post as soon as possible. In the meantime, please enjoy the images below.
