Deadliest Catch Captain Profiles | Sig Hansen

Sig Hansen Bio:Sig Hansen, whose father was one of the original crab fishermen of Dutch Harbor, has been a captain since the age of 22.A fourth-generation Norwegian fisherman, Sig is very superstitious, but always brings back a big catch. He and his two brothers Norman and Edgar, (Sig is the eldest) not only work on the Northwestern, they own it. Living proof that blood is thicker than water, this three-brother crew has fished together for almost 20 years. Sig revels in the strategy and competition of fishing.

  • This is the art of jamming gear down your throat ... one [pot] on the block, one on the bow and one on the stern, and the table full of crab! That makes skipper happy. Crew not happy when skipper does that
  • The longer I work the better I feel.

  • You have to go by gut instinct

    • Prank: Capt. Sig shuts off the fresh water supply as Matt Bradley is showering!

Don't you think? He is rather soft spoken, compared to the others, yet hauls in some of the most impressive catches, which speaks to his quiet resolve and inner strength. Very attractive physically and intellectually. The only reason I watch the show. Well, that and the educational aspects. (As long as Sig in on. Otherwise, it loses its sparkle for me really fast.) Ah, they don't make Norwegians like that anymore.

    Happy fishing,
    Paula

Im basicallt addicted to the deadliest catch, though i do feel bad that not only you have to deal with lack of space and harsh weather conditions, but you have to put up with the camera crew and having to go the extra mile to feed and keep them safe as well as the rest of the crew. i resently got a new kitten and felt it was aproppriate to name him after one of my favorite Captian's Sig ~MeganCheney, Massachusetts~

I just love watching the guys of the Northwestern as they punk each other and compete against each other. You men work SO hard, yet still find time to have fun and throw down some humor at each others' expense. I wish my job shared some of the same aspects. I really enjoy the brother-to-brother banter and Edgar picking on Jake. I am hooked on you guys.
