Jun 8 2008, 1:07 AM EDT Hi Amy! I know the crew / cap'ns have My Space pages, but my son had My Space IM and I had nothing but problems with my computer while he had it. I am just glad I have virus software as I was killing viruses at least 2 to 3 times a week. I had my son remove My Space IM from my computer and haven't had problems since. I would soooo love to communicate with Sig, and Edgar as well as others, but I am scared to death of My Space anymore. There is a risk, I guess I am just not willing to take it. Bummer... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jun 8 2008, 2:34 AM EDT Newbie - there is no reason why you should be getting viruses from MySpace unless you are clicking on foreign links. If you aren't already, be sure to use FireFox and I don't think you will have any problems. I have been on MySpace since 2004 and have never experienced any problems. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jun 8 2008, 10:58 AM EDT Newbie, instead of learning MySpace and FireFox, it might be easier to just hop in the car and head up to Dutch! Use MapQuest or Google Maps to plot the course for ya. The Aleution Highway connects to just about all of the major thouroghfares in the US, Canada, and Russia. Email me if you have any problems and I'll hook ya up !! ;-) Do you find this valuable? |

Jun 8 2008, 3:56 PM EDT You can do my space without the myspace IM. It isn't like you will probably be on when the captains might be on (if it is themselves) to chat anyway. You can send them a message and let them answer back. they leave bulletins on where they are going to be and what is up. My daughter just put back on her IM and I am going to have her take it off. when we don't use it the myspace is fine, now I am having computer issues to. So skip the IM so you can still get bulletins on the myspace on what is up, when they are around and etc. Keeping the myspace keeps the bulletins. Hope I helped 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Jun 8 2008, 8:03 PM EDT Newbie, FireFox is a Web browser. Right now, you are probably using Internet Explorer to surf the Net. I highly recommend you use FireFox. It is free and it is safer than IE. Download it here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ It isn't hard to learn at all. It will look slightly different than IE, but you will quickly get used to it. Also, MySpace has an IM system, but you don't need it at all. In fact, most people set their profiles to not accept IMs (I know I do and I'm sure the captains do, too!) If your son picked up viruses from MySpace, it wasn't from the IM system. He clicked on a link from a stranger or from a friend who's profile had been hacked. It is VERY easy to spot a virus on MySpace -- 99% of the time, it is a porn offer from spam bots who are posing as cute girls. Do you find this valuable? |

Jun 9 2008, 8:49 AM EDT Dowloading those cute little kids games can get ya too. Those little "emoticons" that you can dowload for your email will mess ya up as well. There are so many little tricks that these meanies use to fill up your computer. My kids are famous for downloading and installing stuff without reading the user agreement. They just want to use whatever they just downloaded. Most of the time, if they had read the doc file, they'd see that they just gave permission to these companies to add the junk! Toolbars and add-ons can have the same effect as virusses. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I have wanted to drag an Airstream to Alaska for years as I hate to fly. Is the Aleutian Highway passable with just a 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton and a trailer?
